sony-ericsson-r300-radio-phone

Sony Ericsson has rolled out two new mobile phones in the Indian market. The biggest USP of the new phones is the unbelievable radio-experience they offer.

Dubbed R300 Radio and R306 Radio, users can easily tune-in to their favorite music shows or sports reports, across both AM and FM broadcasts on these devices. The choice is totally yours’, you can either keep the music to yourself by attaching the phones to stereo headphones or alternatively can ‘play it loud’ with the high performance speaker that is built-into the device. A 3D sound enhancement or volume boost that comes with the dedicated Audio Enhancer key on the phones only makes things better.

Whilst the R300 features an integrated VGA camera, R306 comes with a 1.3MP camera. The handsets also include Bluetooth. An optional Bluetooth Headset HBH-PV703 can be bought to accentuate the radio-listening experience further.

R306 Radio opens up into a clamshell with two built-in stereo speakers that face the listener.

Slated for a launch in Q2 of 2008, the Sony Ericsson mobile phones will be available in the price range of Rs 3,500-5,000.

The newly announced phones seem to be best suited for those consumers who do not want to go in for additional media players or get bored of the music stored in their phone’s memory. Moreover, the price surely also seems to be second most attractive factor in these devices.

Leading mobile equipment manufacturer, Sony, has added more products in its portfolio, launching new digital Cyber-shot camera models - DSC-TX1 and DSC-WX1 - in the Indian market. The highly-sensitive devices are equipped with illuminated CMOS sensor technology and are capable of capturing very clear views in even low light surroundings.

The cameras, having anti-motion blur multi-shot modes, can capture six separate images in less than a second which indicates its high sensitivity. It is also provided with Sweep Panorama, which uses the Exmor R CMOS sensor and the BIONZ processor to offer high quality imaginary.

The Sony Cyber-shot TX1 cameras, measuring16.5mm, are capable of recording 10 frames per second, given the high quality burst shooting mode. The 10.2 megapixel camera has 3-inch Clear Photo LCD Plus touch panel, making it very comfortable to capture images through its various menu options.

The other worth-noting features of the cameras include Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, 4x telescopic zoom and Optical Steady Shot image stabilization technology. The TX1 is expected to be available in the market from mid-September at a price tag of AU$649.

NOKIA N97

The world's largest handset maker, Nokia, would introduce its smartphone N97 in Indian market by Diwali, in an attempt to cash in on people's buying sentiments in the festival season.

Nokia India Managing Director D Shivakumar, while launching two music devices and a new version of N97, said: "Though the music devices will be available in India by Q4 (2009-10), we plan to bring the N97 Mini by October in the Indian market."

Mr. Shivakumar, allying with the criticism about Nokia's poor performance in the high end phone segment, said that Nokia is doing better than expected in the smartphone segment, reporting adequate sales growth despite stiff completion across the segment.

Nokia N97 is equipped with all modern and user friendly features such as a 3.5 inch touch screen with 640x360 (16:9) resolution and haptic feedback, a slide out QWERTY keyboard, 4× digital zoom, WiFi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, HSDPA, 32GB of built in flash memory, a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack and many more.

The smartphone by Nokia, having about 40 per cent market share worldwide, is priced at about Rs 31,000.

Sony Ericsson W61S

The two handsets are the W61S (slider) and the W62S (flip). The W61S is loaded with a 5.1 megapixel autofocus camera and falls under the Cyber-shot umbrella. It’s equipped with a CMOS sensor and aside from 3x optical zoom it uses Sony’s ‘Exmor’ technology from the Pro Alpha DSLR. The camera boasts Kaokime Lite (auto-adjusts brightness on face detection for ideal facial tones), Smile Shutter Lite (auto-releases shutter on detecting smiles) and anti-shake abilities.

As if that weren't enough, the W61S has a large 2.8 inch WVGA display with a resolution of 400 x 800 pixels that apparently uses Reality MAX technology as in Sony’s Bravia HD TVs. WOW!! Aside from all that (as if all that’s not enough to make you want to fly to Japan), it has other usual features such as Bluetooth, GPS, TV-out and external memory support via microSD cards (Not M2?)

Sony Ericsson W62S

Next up is the W62S flip phone equipped with a 2.7 inch WQVGA display that sports a resolution of 240 x 432 pixels. There doesn’t seem to be too much information provided about this particular phone other than the display size and the fact that it will also support external memory up to 2GB via microSD cards, and that it will have a 2 megapixel camera.

Prices haven't been announced as yet, but the W61S will be out this April in Spectrum Pink, Shadow Black and Prism White, while the W62S should be out a bit earlier, in March, in Silver/Leather, Black/Rose and White/Lime.

LG MOBILES GB270 /KP265 /GB210

First up is the GB210, a simple candybar handset that features a 1.77-inch LCD screen (65K colours, 120x160 pixels) with 4MB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 4GB via microSD. The gadget also packs a 1.3-megapixel camera, FM radio, Bluetooth and a 950mAh battery that will give you up to 5 hours of talk-time.
The GB210 retails at Rs 4,399 in all of India except for Maharashtra, where the added VAT pushes the price up to Rs 4,625.

The most stylish of the three handsets announced is the KP265 – a slider phone with a red, silver and black colour scheme. This big brother of the GB210 also has a similar 1.77-inch screen, but this time, it can render 256K colours at the same resolution. The device is a little series about its music, coming with a built-in equaliser and a 3.5-mm audio jack to listen to FM radio or the tunes you store on a microSD card of up to 4GB. The rest of the specs are quite similar, although the battery is just 900mAh, which means only 3 hours of talk-time here.
Packaged with a 1GB memory card, the KP265 is available for Rs 5,225 in Maharashtra, and Rs 4,999 in the rest of India.

The third phone in the line-up is the GB270, which has a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde thing going on. It comes with two themes – ‘Business’ and ‘Casual’ – along with interchangeable covers, which LG claims gives the illusion of carrying two phones at once. The screen has been bumped up to a 2 inches and the battery stands at a solid 1000mAh, so a similar talk-time of around 5 hours would be expected. The camera, though, is just standard VGA (640x480 pixels) and the handset can support only up to 2GB of memory.
Still, for a price tag of Rs 4,599 (Rs 4,850 in Maharashtra), what more can you expect?

AQUOS 913SH SLIDER -PHONE WITH HIGHEST RESOLUTION

Softbank and Sharp has released a new slider phone called the FullTouch 931SH which has the highest resolution so far available in mobiles. It has a 3.8 inch 1024 X 480 resolution screen, the resolution is very high and can even be seen in a few netbooks. Along with that, it has a host of high end features.
Along with its mighty resolution, the phone also has a 5 mega pixel auto focus camera and 3G connectivity. It is just 16mm thin and even the touch screen has multi touch capability. The design of the phone with the slide feature also looks very nice. It has GPS capability, accelerometer and Bluetooth with A2DP. It comes with a TV Tuner card, Media Player, Web Browser and microSD support. With its high resolution screen, it can even provide a nice competition to iPhone.
The phone with all its impressive feature will be quite expensive. But unfortunately, the phone will only be released in Japan, so if you want it, you will have to get it from there.

NEXT GEN UMD LESS PSP GO! TO LAUNCH AT E3 ;RUMOR CHECK

There’s been a lot of speculation and rumors lately for the Sony’s Playstation Portable next generation model which is expected to ditch the Sony’s proprietary battery sucking UMD format, instead the new PSP Go will feature inbuilt 8GB or 16GB memory and games can be downloaded via PlayStation Network. The latest rumor for the media distribution is that the retail games will be available on high speed Memory Stick HG-Micro cards. They are all rumors for now and you have to wait for E3 where Sony will announce exact details about PSP Go.

Current Rumors for next gen PSP:
Name: PSP Go or PSP Flip or PSP Slide
* Storage: 8Gb or 16 GB * Camera: 1.3 or 2 Megapixel * Another Analog Hub * Games: Digital Distribution via PlayStation Network and Games on HG Micro Cards * UMD Will be gone forever for good, more battery life * Design: There is a artistic impression of PSP Go doing rounds on the Internet, you can see the image above.
Our Take:
PSP
The new PSP is inevitable as iPod Touch/iPhone are also marketed as gaming devices and are much better in terms of hardware and software and pose serious threat to Sony’s PSP . What I believe is, the new PSP Go will be a similar to current model but without UMD means it will be slimmer. The current design and button placement of Sony is everyone’s favorite and plausibility of the PSP with slide out pad is very low. Also Sony cannot change the hardware and screen much as there will compatibility issues with previously released games on UMD(these will be made available as digital downloads). But they can for sure add inbuilt storage and Camera to the bundle and fans will love it

The phone seen on the Samsung site is a sideways slider that has a full QWERTY keyboard for messaging and regular numeric keypad on the front. The FCC has approved the Samsung R560. The FCC documents note that the R560 has tri-band CDMA radios, which MetroPCS requires, EVDO data capabilities, Bluetooth and a 2 megapixel camera.
